On Sept. 28, three people suffered injuries in a Preston crash, authorities stated. The fiery incident reportedly transpired on Interstate 90 at approximately 2:30 p.m.
According to law enforcement officials, an eastbound SUV failed to navigate a curve on the highway, crossing the median and entering into westbound traffic, where the accident occurred. Altogether, four vehicles became involved in the wreck, and one of them caught fire to the point of being totally engulfed in flames, authorities said.
The accident sent three people to Harborview Medical Center with injuries, reportedly. Bystanders extracted the female driver of the vehicle engulfed in flames, and she survived the incident with 'very severe ankle injuries," officials stated.
According to law enforcement officials, all of the drivers involved in the wreck were wearing seat belts, which largely contributed to their survival. It was not clear immediately following the event whether officials planned to file any charges or issue any citations in connection with the accident.
If, hypothetically, further investigation into this case were to reveal that reckless or negligent driving was the main contributing factor in the crash, then the people who suffered injuries may wish to retain the counsel and resources of a personal injury attorney. For, even if no criminal charges arise from the event, the at-fault driver may be held liable for the accident through civil action. The attorney may advise accident victims whether a personal injury lawsuit seems viable. If so, the attorney may submit the paperwork required to initiate the claim and assemble the materials necessary to build a strong case.
If successful, victims may be awarded compensation for the economic damages they suffered in connection with their accident-related injuries. These may include hospital bills and lost wages.
